Pupils at Hartshill Academy are celebrating the completion of their new, state of the art school building. The keys were handed over to Principal Lorraine Taylor on 17 November 2023 enabling staff and pupils to move in and explore their new environment.

Hartshill Academy, part of the Midland Academies Trust, is one of the first schools to benefit from the Government’s national School Rebuilding Programme. The redevelopment project, led by the Department for Education in partnership with developer, Wates Construction, has successfully delivered a brand-new facility that is fit for 21st century teaching.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Chief Executive of the Midland Academies Trust said, “We are delighted to mark this occasion as we see our vision of a fabulous and inspirational learning environment brought to life. It is fantastic to be able to welcome pupils into this new facility which creates the perfect environment for them to learn and develop.

“Hartshill Academy has a long tradition of educating pupils and enabling them to create successful futures. We welcome the opportunities that the new campus now brings to adapt to contemporary learning styles and provide better resources for future generations, as well as creating a hub for the local community and a beacon for raising aspirations across the local area. The new building offers a secure and welcoming environment for pupils, enabling them to reach their potential.”

Lorraine Taylor, Principal of Hartshill Academy said, “It was fantastic to pick up the keys and welcome our pupils and staff into our new school building. Sustainability is at the heart of the new school’s design with facilities making as much use as possible of natural light, with efficient use of power to save on operating costs and to help reduce carbon emissions. We are looking forward to settling in and making the most of the opportunities that this facility brings.”
